A global concert tour commemorating Taiwan singer Teresa Teng's 60th birthday will kick off in the southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen on December 2, organizers said on Tuesday. The second leg of the event, titled "The Same Song, 1.9 billion Claps," will be held in Beijing on January 26, He Bin, a representative of the organizers, said at a press briefing. The schedule for the overseas performances has yet to be released. "We started planning the shows as early as 2008 and they were authorized by the Teresa Teng Foundation," He said. Among the potential guests to the performances are Chinese singers Faye Wong and Andy Lau. The organizers have decided to donate 1 yuan (about 0.16 U.S. dollars) from the sales revenue of each ticket to Teresa Teng's music charity foundation. Teng's brother Chang-fu Teng, chairman of the Teresa Teng Foundation, recognized the event as the only authorized one, and said his sister was very serious about her concerts when she was alive. "Without good preparations, we won't start them," Chang-fu Teng said. The chairman noted that around 150 concerts in the name of his sister have been or will be held on the Chinese mainland since last year, but none of them with authorization. A relic exhibition will be carried out in Beijing around next May, the chairman added. Teng was well-known for her folk songs and romantic ballads, which include "When Will You Return," and "The Moon Represents My Heart." Teng, would have have been 60 on January 29, 2013. She died on May 8, 1995.
