Bjork, three years after her wildly ambitious "Biophilia" multimedia project, says she is working on a new album co-produced by the Venezuelan DJ Arca.
The Icelandic musical icon, known for her sweeping vocal range and conceptual imagery, apologized in a Facebook message for missing the London premiere of the "Biophilia Live" film and said she was "already working on her next album," which will be out in 2015.
Arca, whose real name is Alejandro Ghersi, said on Twitter that he and Bjork were "co-producing music together" in reference to the album. The London-based DJ and producer is known for his work with British musician and dancer FKA twigs, whose R&B-tinged trip-hop has won a growing audience in recent months.
Bjork, who became popular in the 1980s as a singer in the pop rock band The Sugarcubes, grew increasingly experimental as a solo artist culminating in 2011's "Biophilia," which uses multimedia including a series of smartphone apps to explore the links between technology, music and nature.
The project spawned two films, "Biophilia Live," which features a concert performance, and a documentary in which she discusses "Biophilia" with celebrated British nature broadcaster David Attenborough.
Despite missing the London showing, Bjork, who has a longstanding interest in Japanese culture, hinted in a Facebook message that she may attend "Biophilia Live" screenings in Tokyo which have been extended for an additional week.
