Bjork plans a series of intimate concerts at New York classical halls as the experimental Icelandic singer releases her new album in March.
Bjork on her website announced shows on March 7 and 14 at Carnegie Hall, one of the world's premier classical venues, followed by four concerts at the nearby New York City Center, which is home to dance performances.
The singer, who has not released an album for four years, will also be the focus of a previously announced retrospective in March at New York's Museum of Modern Art, and she is scheduled to play the city's Governors Ball festival in June.
Bjork recently announced that her upcoming album will be entitled "Vulnicura."
In a handwritten note released on social media, Bjork revealed a songlist that seemed to indicate that the album will return to her frequent themes of nature, with tracks entitled "Black Lake," "Quicksand" and "Stonemilker."
Bjork's last album, 2011's "Biophilia," was a wildly ambitious production that used multimedia including smartphone apps to explore the links between technology, music and nature.
While the sound of "Vulnicura" is still unknown, Bjork has said that she is working with Arca, the Venezuelan DJ known for producing rapper Kanye West and the rising British trip-hop artist FKA twigs.
Bjork, who turns 50 later this year, sang in the 1980s with the pop group The Sugarcubes before her soaring vocal range and innovative musical concepts led her to a successful solo career.
