Lebanese actor Lamitta Frangieh defended Lebanese female artists attacked in Egypt for playing seductive roles, saying: "It is not our fault that Lebanese female artists are pretty!" Frangieh said that most Lebanese females come to Egypt because of its "Hollywood of the East" status, and "there was no cinema industry in the Arab world but in Egypt." Frangieh said: "Even if some of the Lebanese females are accused of performing in seductive scenes, there's nothing wrong with that. There are many international stars known for their performances in such roles, and so is the case with the Arab and Egyptian artists". Frangieh said that being beautiful is not their fault, but "relying on beauty alone is a failure, as beauty fades and talent remains." The Lebanese actress stated that directors were fully aware of her talent and production companies ready to bear the costs of her travel and stay, despite the fact that there were many actresses who are ready to perform such roles and live in Egypt and charge half of what she does. "I am keen on performing seduction in a non-provocative way, and concentrate on showing the beauty and allure of a female unlike those who perform such roles with sexual overtones," she said.
