Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir believes it's time for African music to ascend in global popularity. In an interview with the "Al-Shorouk" newspaper, Mounir said that music currently does not present anything new, which gives the African music the opportunity to get promoted in the future. "The West is musically bankrupt," Mounir added. Mounir said: "We are obsessed with western ideas which became mainstream and wasn't very good. African music has forms of music different to rock and other forms imposed on us." Two years ago, the singer had introduced a project for musical collboration among African countries; however, it has not been initiated yet.
