Marianne Elliot-Said, the British punk rocker known as Poly Styrene, has died of spine and breast cancer, her representatives said. She was 53. The former singer with the X-Ray Spex released her third solo album, "Generation Indigo," last month. "We can confirm that the beautiful Poly Styrene, who has been a true fighter, won her battle on Monday evening to go to higher places," the BBC quoted a statement posted on her Twitter page as saying. Elliot-Said is survived by her daughter, Celeste Bell-Dos Santos, who is the lead singer for Debutant Disco.
