The Ministry of Public Works is keen on extending road projects nationwide to overcome traffic problems, Minister Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim said on Monday.
Al-Ibrahim, also Minister of Electricity and Water, added that the major vital road projects in the country are being carried out in line with timetable.
The Minister made the statement after he opened higher roundabouts of the Ring Road 7 near Abdullah Al-Mubarak neighborhood.
Meanwhile, the two projects of completing Ring road 5 and Cairo Road have been sent to the relevant bid committee, to be later offered for bidders, Al-Ibrahim said. He also referred to a host of road projects that have been offered over the past period.
According to the Minister, the South Surra road will be offered to bidders in a month time, together with Abdali and Salmy. As for the 6.5 Road, it will be offered in two weeks. Salmi Road will be offered over three phases, the first of which in January 2015.
On the roundabouts inaugurated today, the Minister said they will mainly streamline traffic for inhabitants of the Abdullah Al-Mubarak and motorists using both Ring Roads 6 and 7.
