Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussein bin Ali Mirza said that in the last six years 1100 potential cases of electric power disruptions have been avoided since 2009 thanks to the GCC Electricity Grid connection.
The minister told Al Ayam newspaper that 1100 have been avoided and this saved huge funds. He said that Bahrain, like the other GCC-member countries, significantly benefited from the GCC Electricity Network.
The key project which attests to the efforts of merging GCC economies was aimed to link electric supply between member states to save the necessary investments to exchange electrical power, cope with inability to generate electricity in cases of emergency, reduce standby generation systems, improve economic reliability of power generating systems in member countries, provide basis for exchanging electric supplies, serve economic aspects and boost reliability of supply facilities.
