Minister of Environment Khaled Fahmy asserted that the New Suez Canal is "a historic achievement" for the coming generations, calling on Egyptians to see their national project on ground.
In statements to MENA, Fahmy said the new canal is a proof that Egyptians' hopes are "limitless", noting that world media and newspapers have shed light on Egypt over the past period.
The accomplishment of the project is promising for Egypt's future and its coming generations, he said, adding that the fruit of it will be soon witnessed.
He pinpointed that the Ministry of Environment have reviewed all environmental studies on the canal project to assess its impact on the maritime life.
Ministry experts are currently cooperating with the Suez Canal Authority to make necessary environmental studies on the impact of the Suez Canal Corridor development on its surroundings.
He said the fisheries project, to be established as part of the canal development, is a mega project that will contribute to providing thousands of tons of fish products daily.
He said the fisheries' project is the biggest of its kind worldwide. It is planned to establish as many as 3,828 cages at a main cost of EGP 650 million.
The ministry said some 1,380 cages will be operating with the inauguration of the New Suez Canal, set for Thursday.
