Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hossam Maghazy stressed that the water of Nile River is completely safe and suitable for human consumption.
A vessel with 500 tons of phosphate on board sank in the Nile River branch in Qena on Tuesday.
Moghazy praised cooperation among the state bodies, the armed forces, the Irrigation Ministry and Qena governorate, to lift the sunken vessel.
As many as 165 samples were taken from the Nile water and all tested negative against toxic substances, he said.
