Egypt has been re-elected as a member of the executive council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid announced on Wednesday.
Out of 184 states eligible to vote at the UNESCO’s General Conference, which convenes every two years, 141 countries have voted for Egypt, Abu Zeid said.
After winning the vote, Cairo will reserve its seat at the UNESCO’s executive council for further four years, ending in 2021, he added.
