Egypt's candidate for the UNESCO Director-General post Moushira Khattab lost to her French rival Audrey Azoulay in a run-off vote that was held on Friday.
Azoulay got 31 votes, while Khattab garnered only 25, UNESCO Executive Board Chairman Michael Worbs said.
The fifth round of election will be held later in the day at 6:30 (Paris time) between Azoulay and Qatari candidate Hamad Abdul Aziz Al Kawari.
