Egypt's candidate for the UNESCO Director-General post Moushira Khattab is capable of beating her French rival Audrey Azoulay in a vote run-off that will be held later on Friday, Director of Khattab's campaign Ambassador Mohamed el Oraby said.
The winner in today's vote will compete with Qatari candidate Hamad Abdul Aziz Al Kawari in the UNESCO's fifth and last round of election.
Speaking to MENA on Friday, Oraby stressed that the vote should be in public, not in secret.
Oraby also called for an Arab consensus on such high posts, expecting that UNESCO elections would have an impact on the regional and international system.
