The Doqqi court of misdemeanors sentenced during a session under counselor Ahmed Abdel Meguid on Monday lawyer Khaled Ali to three months in jail.
Ali will have to pay 1,000 pounds in bail as part of the sentence after the court charged him with an indecent hand gesture during a protest over the handover of Tiran and Sanafir islands to Saudi Arabia.
The sentence was issued after a lawyer reported to the authorities that Ali made an indecent hand gesture, which is punishable by law, during the protest.
