Palestine's Fatah and Hamas movements on Thursday hammered out a national reconciliation deal ending a years-long division, said an official statement following Egypt-backed meetings held in Cairo.
The agreement is based on the outcome of the agreement signed in Cairo on May 4, 2011, read the statement.
The two movements also agreed to enable the government of national accord to take up its duties in governing the Gaza Strip as of December 1 this year.
The statement further indicated that Egypt has also invited members of the Palestinian factions who signed the 2011 reconciliation deal to engage in a meeting in Cairo on November 21.
