A 16-year-old Palestinian teenager died Saturday after he succumbed to wounds he sustained last month during border protests against Israel, medics said.
Gaza Health Ministry Spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra said in a press statement that 16-year-old Suhaib Abu Kashef died of his wounds in a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip late Saturday.
Abu Kashef was shot by Israeli soldiers on August 3, east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, during anti-Israel protests launched nearly half a year ago. Protesters have rallied around long-standing calls for a right to return to lands they were forced to clear when Israel was founded.
Al-Qedra said that, since the marches began on March 30, the Israeli army has shot and killed 178 Palestinians and wounded more than 19,000.
