Billionaire Sebastian Pinera was ahead in Chile's presidential election with more than half the votes counted Sunday, elections officials said.
The conservative candidate had 36.6 percent of the vote with Alejandro Guillier, an independent supported by outgoing President Michelle Bachelet's Socialist party, and a far-left candidate, Beatriz Sanchez, battling for second place in the election that will need a runoff second round next month.
