Russia says it has killed five prominent field commanders of the al Nusra Front, who organized an attack against Russian forces in Syria’s western Hama Province earlier this month.
Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday that the commanders were eliminated in a Russian airstrike on Syria’s northwestern Idlib Province.
In addition to the Nusra commanders, the Idlib air raid also killed 37 of its fighters and destroyed an ammunition and explosives depot and six weapons-laden vehicles, he added.
