Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) on Thursday said its 39th round will be held on November 21-30.
In a press conference, the festival’s President Magda Wasif said that 15 films will participate in the official competition, noting that no Egyptian films will be included.
She said 160 films will be screened during the festival.
Wasif also announced Australia as this round’s guest of horror in which 10 Australian films will be screened.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at al Manara palace in Cairo, she said, pointing out that star Kate Winslet’s new film “The Mountain between Us” will be screened at the opening. British actor Edris Alba is also starring in the film directed by veteran Palestinian director Hany Abu Assad.
CIFF is one of only 15 festivals accorded a category “A” status by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations FIAPF.
