France has opened a preliminary investigation into money laundering and tax fraud following media revelations based on a vast trove of documents about offshore financial dealings known as the Panama Papers, prosecutors said Monday.
The tax evasion revealed in the leaked documents "is likely to concern French taxpayers," the financial prosecutors' office said.
