More than 200 Egyptian youths of both genders are participating in World Youth Day celebrations held on August 13-16 in the city of Abu Qir in Alexandria, UN Information Centre in Cairo (UNIC) said in a statement on Monday.
The world youth day celebrations focus on activities, such as education and interactive discussions aimed to develop the capabilities of the young people and encourage them to engage in their societies, as well as offering solutions to the challenges and problems facing their societies.
The celebrations are held under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth in cooperation with a number of UN organisations in Egypt, including UN Women, Unicef and United Nations Development Program, in addition to other organisations.
Moreover, the world youth day aims to identify the priorities of the young people regarding a number of issues and ways to develop these priorities into potential solutions and offer them to decision makers.
