Former Brazilian footballer and current ambassador for the Real Madrid Foundation, Roberto Carlos, is set lead a delegation to the Moroccan city of Tetouane to inaugurate a sports center.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between a non-profit organization in Tetouan and the Real Madrid Foundation.
A source for the daily newspaper, Al Massae, stated in the paper’s February 25 and 26 issue that “this initiative is a result of the cooperation maintained by the Hanane Association for the protection of handicapped children of Tetouan with the Real Madrid Foundation and the Spanish organization, Manos Unidas.”
The same source added that the initiative is a first of its kind at the African level, and aims to bring sports values to children with reduced mobility.
Last week Roberto Carlos attended two events, one in Singapore and the other in Malaysia, in his capacity as ambassador of the Real Madrid Foundation.
The Real Madrid Foundation also collaborates with the Cervantes and Paideia charities on a socio-sporting school project that is currently under construction in the northern city of Tangiers to benefit 500 children from disadvantaged backgrounds with training.
