Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz on Friday attended the opening ceremony of the Volleyball Men’s U23 World Championship which is held at Cairo International Stadium.
The Egypt 2017 contest starts on Friday with participation of 12 countries including Brazil, Japan, Turkey, Russia and China. The first phase games will last until August 23, and the championship ends on August 25.
The teams are split into two brackets. The first group includes Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Cuba and Japan, while the second group includes Turkey, Russia, Argentina, Iran, Algeria and China.
The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation and head of the organizing committee Fouad Abdel Salam along with a group of ambassadors representing the participating countries.
