Andy Murray beat Aljaz Bedene 6-3 6-4 to book a British Queen's Club quarter-final with another British opponent Kyle Edmund.
Playing his first match against a fellow countryman in 10 years, the British number one was too strong for the British number two, clinching victory in just over an hour.
Murray will face British wildcard Kyle Edmund for a place in the semi-finals after brushing aside Bedene in the second round of the Wimbledon warm-up event.
Elsewhere in the second round, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller saved 10 match points to claim a surprise 3-6, 7-6 (18/16), 7-6 (9/7) win over American seventh seed John Isner.
Muller, who also reached the Queen's quarter-finals last year, will face Australia's Bernard Tomic, who beat Spain's Fernando Verdasco 6-7 (2/7) 6-4, 6-4. Canadian third seed Milos Raonic advanced to the last eight for the second successive year with a 7-5, 7-6 (8/6) victory against Czech Jiri Vesely.
