HBO has renewed the "Veep" comedy series starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a third season, the U.S. premium cable network said Wednesday. The network's most-watched comedy, set in the office of Selina Meyer, a fictional U.S. vice president, premiered April 22, 2012, and began its second season April 14. Louis-Dreyfus won a 2012 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the show. She has also been nominated for a 2013 Golden Globe Award, Television Critics Association Award and Critics' Choice Television Award. The program was created by Scottish comedian-writer Armando Iannucci and was inspired by his previous political satires, the BBC series "The Thick of It" and the Academy Award-nominated film "In the Loop," featuring "The Thick of It" characters. "Veep" co-stars include Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky and Kevin Dunn.
