Los Angeles - UPI

New Zealand-born actress Lucy Lawless is to co-star in the small-screen, horror-comedy series Ash vs. Evil Dead, Starz announced.
The half-hour program is a followup to the classic Evil Dead film franchise. Starring Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo, the show is to film on location in New Zealand this spring and is scheduled to premiere on the cable network in late 2015.
Original filmmakers Campbell, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are serving as executive producers on the series.
Lawless is known for her work in the TV shows Xena: Warrior Princess, Battlestar Galactica, Spartacus, Parks and Recreation, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She also will be seen soon in Season 2 of Salem.
