Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose have joined The X-Files revival.
The 27-year-old actor will portray the "smart and smooth" Agent Miller, while the 37-year-old actress will play the "sharp and confident" Agent Einstein. Original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise Agent Mulder and Agent Scully on the series.
Amell and Ambrose will reportedly appear in just one episode that takes place in the present day. Sources told Variety the pair are not slated to portray younger versions of Mulder and Scully in flashbacks, despite the actors' superficial resemblance to Duchovny and Anderson.
The X-Files had a nine-season run on Fox from 1993 to 2002, and will return as a six-episode limited series Jan. 24, 2016. The revival is being developed by series creator Chris Carter, and follows Mulder and Scully as they investigate unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.
Amell is cousin to Arrow actor Stephen Amell, and plays Ronnie Raymond, aka Firestorm, on The CW spinoff The Flash. Ambrose is best known for portraying Claire Fisher on HBO drama Six Feet Under, and recently appeared as Debbie Morgan on USA Network series Dig.
