Tyrese Gibson is returning to Dubai for the premiere of Fast & Furious 8: The Fate of the Furious.
The actor, who has become an avid fan of the UAE, will meet fans at an event in Yas Mall on April 11. This event, kicking off at 6pm, will be open to the public and include a red carpet, an autograph session and an interview on stage with Gibson, a spokesperson at VOX Cinemas told Gulf News tabloid!.
The following night (April 12), Gibson will attend the invite-only UAE premiere of the film in Dubai, kicking off at 7.30pm. The film will premiere around the same time locally in Oman, Doha, Egypt and Lebanon. Fans will have a chance to enter radio and social media contests to attend the exclusive screening.
Gibson last made a public appearance in the UAE during the Dubai International Film Festival (Diff) in December, supporting Emirati director Ali Mustafa and Mustafa’s survival thriller, The Worthy.
He also visited Yas Mall two summers ago to promote the DVD release of Furious 7, wearing a disdasha as he greeted nearly a thousand of his fans.
“When I first came here, it was the first time I had smiled, or felt joy, since my brother Paul Walker died [in November 2013],” Gibson told tabloid!. “God said to me, go to the UAE, there’s blessing on the other side. I am on a mission now to change the perception of the Middle East. God gave me a vision and, Inshallah, this will all come to pass.”
