Ahead of the fall season, Mattel has invited couturier and Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld to design a look for its iconic fashion doll. The result will be a collector's edition Barbie with all the hallmarks of Lagerfeld's distinctive style.
This fall, Barbie will add a new look to her wardrobe, including a black blazer, a white men's dress shirt with a starched collar, a black satin tie and a pair of fitted black jeans. Of course, the outfit will come with equally chic accessories: a pair of black fingerless gloves, black boots and a black leather clutch with metallic accents.
"Working with Karl Lagerfeld for this unique creative collaboration has been an incredible honor," commented Kim Culmone, Vice President of Design for Barbie products at Mattel. "It's not every day that Barbie dresses like the world's most famous fashion designer."
Lagerfeld and his designers also seemed to enjoy the collaboration. "It has been great fun for Karl and the team to dress Barbie in this iconic style," commented Pier Paolo Righi, CEO & President of Karl Lagerfeld.
Lagerfeld Barbie will go on sale in a limited edition under the Barbie Collector line. Additional details on the doll will be revealed at a later date.
