Several major international companies are investing on new hotels in Central America, including AM Resorts, Hard Rock, Trust Hospitality and Hilton Worldwide. AM Resorts is investing US$125 million in a new luxury hotel on El Jobo beach, in Guanacaste (Costa Rica), expected to open by late 2013 or early 2014. The five star Dreams Las Mareas Resort & Spa will have 423 rooms, a spa and several other facilities over 1,500 hectares in the area of La Cruz in Guanacaste. The new project will generate around 1,000 direct or indirect jobs. In Honduras, Trust Hospitality, under the Desides brand, is developing the luxury eco-hotel Los Micos Beach & Golf Resort on Tela Bay, expected to be completed by summer 2013. The hotel has an 18-hole golf course designed by Gary Player, 120 rooms, spa, restaurant, children’s and teen clubs. The hotel will also offer a range of ecotourism activities in the area. More information: here. Hard Rock recently opened the Hotel Panama Megalopolis in Panama City, the first Hard Rock hotel in Latin America. Occupying a 66-storey tower, the hotel offers 1,463 rooms and suites, eight restaurants and bars, a large swimming pool and the exclusive Rock Spa. Hilton Worldwide is also investing in Panama with the opening of The Panamera, the first Panama hotel under the Waldorf Astoria brand, expected in August 2012.
