Starwood has unveiled plans to launch a new golf resort near Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Set to open in September 2014, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa will become the first Le Méridien golf resort in Asia Pacific and features a course designed by Sir Nick Faldo.
Located 15 minute’ drive from Suvarnabhumi Airport and a 40-minute drive to the city centre, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi will offer 223 rooms and suites, all offering balconies with views of the golf course.
The 18-hole Summit Windmill Golf Club is playable at day or night thanks to floodlights, and after a round guests can relax in one of three restaurants and bars, including an Italian restaurant with wine cellar. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, kids’ club, spa and fitness centre.
The resort is expected to be popular with the MICE market and offers 740m² of function space, including seven meeting rooms and outdoor event venues.
Once open, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi will become the brand’s eighth property in Thailand and its third in the Bangkok area, following Le Meridien Bangkok and the Plaza Athenee Bangkok.
