Moreover, it is taken into account to use environment-friendly materials to embed sustainability factors and render the building as a simulating learning environment.
It is worth mentioning that all the delivered schools are equipped with the latest educational furnishing and the necessary audiovisual devices, in addition to a CCTV system and the building management system (BMS) that ensures follow up on all the electrical, mechanical and fire alarms systems, and the ability to pinpoint any malfunction, if any. It also has been taken into account that the design and construction of the project meet the requirements of sustainability which help enhance the efficiency of use and conserve the multiple energy sources.
Eng. Saeed Mohamed Metab Al Mehairbi, Musanada’s Buildings Director, emphasized that the completed projects of the Future Schools Program are a source of pride, resembling massive efforts of a mutual team comprising those concerned from ADEC and Musanada to ensure completion of all the works within a record timespan, which significantly has ensured the success of the academic year plan as planned.
High Quality, Environment-Friendly Buildings and Facilities in Line with Best International Specifications Eng. Saeed Al Mehairbi reassured that Musanada was keen to construct and deliver its buildings and facilities projects according to high quality standards in line with best international specifications, noting Musanada’s compliance with the environmental sustainability requirements successfully achieved in many of Musanada’s 2015 projects by attaining the 2-pearl rating followed by Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), contributing to enhanced use and conservation of multiple energy sources.
During 2015, seven projects were delivered in the buildings sector with a total cost of AED173 m, representing several service facilities, in addition to construction of prefabricated accommodation units in the western region for the Emirates Nuclear Corporation for a total cost of AED26 m.
Sheikh Ahmed Mosque in Zakher In addition to the previously mentioned projects, Musanada has added one of its landmarks by constructing and delivering Sheikh Ahmed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Mosque in Zakher, Al Ain. The mosque is one of the new architectural landmarks of Al Ain city, built on an area of 3,248 square meters. Construction work commenced in 2013 and was completed on 15 March 2015. The mosque combines both Moroccan and Andalusian styles, featuring Islamic architecture under the supervision of a team of professional experts. Eng. Al Mehairbi added that the AED20 m mosque is featured by its pyramid-shape dome made of a combination of the finest wood types. The mosque includes a prayer hall for men and one for women, ablution facilities, halls for Quran recitation, and two minarets 42 meter high, as well as housing for the imam and muzzein and several other utility spaces, creating from this Islamic edifice an additional landmark in Al Ain city.
Al Ain Ladies Club At the sports facilities level, and also as part of the buildings sector, all works related to Al Ain Ladies Club were completed in the first quarter of 2015 in coordination with Abu Dhabi Sports Council, representing a milestone in the process of empowering, strengthening and activating the social and sport presence of UAE women. The project was built in a privileged location in Al Ain, facing the Shakhboot bin Sultan Street in Al Markhaniya region, which is considered as an easily accessible, vital area, allowing visitors to effortlessly reach the Club. Extending over an area of 17,322 square meters, the Al Ain Ladies Club was designed and equipped according to the highest eco-friendly international standards. The building consists of a ground level and two upper floors, in addition to a service floor, in which excellent sports, cultural and entertainment services are provided to Al Ain women.
Al Mehairbi added that "Musanada, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Sports Council being the sports regulatory authority in the emirate, designed and set up the building according to the best possible ways and standards to provide the visitors with the best services. This came as a result of our prudent leadership’s care to achieve prosperity, provide the citizens with a decent life and ensure their prosperity and well-being. To that end, we designed the building according to the best international specifications and environmental sustainability standards that preserve resources and energy in accordance with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, which is based on environmental sustainability as a key element in the implementation process of government projects. It is also worth mentioning that the compatibility of the design with the frameworks and standards in line with the charming city of Al Ain was taken into account."
Al Ain Club also provides women with the right atmosphere to encourage them to develop their various skills at the cultural, sports and social levels, enabling them to participate in different development activities locally, nationally and even internationally in line with the UAE community and identity. All these services and amenities are provided from one coordinated building, consisting of four floors with the ability to accommodate more than 400 people. Adequate green spaces and a variety of places to practice indoor and outdoor sports activities were also made available.
The work kicked off in the project in April 2013, and it included several halls, the most important of which was the main lobby, an entertainment theater, library, prayer halls, waiting rooms and administration offices. On the sports level, the project included a fully-equipped multi-function hall, in addition to two gyms and aerobics halls with Jacuzzi and sauna. The building also included halls for bowling, snooker and squash, with another internal children playground hall. It contained also a 25x12.5 meter half-Olympic-sized swimming pool, in addition to another swimming pool for children and a fully-equipped cinema hall, along with 13 retail outlets and a beauty center. The project also included 325 meter external play grounds for children, external landscaping, an outdoor tennis court and a main restaurant, three caf?s, two meeting halls equipped with the state-of-art technologies which can be used as business centers for ladies.
Al Mehairbi concluded by stressing that Musanada was always committed to put into effect the directions of the prudent leadership, complying with whatever needed to enhance government projects in line with highest engineering and aesthetical standards, adding more to the beauty of the UAE and providing what is needed by the UAE nationals and residents.
Vital Projects Delivered in Cooperation with Seha In the healthcare projects sector, Musanada delivered, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company "Seha", several projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during 2015. It completed the works in Ghayathi Hospitals in the western region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, designed in accordance with latest international standards focusing on maximum reduction of energy and water consumption, and at the same time the optimal utilization of sunlight, while ensuring that the sufficiently flexible design as to allow future expansion to meet the expected population growth over the coming two decades in the western region. The design also took into account the need to clearly split female-designated departments from those designated for male patients, in line with the traditions and customs.
Extending over a total area of 147 thousand square meters, this hospital project has a total built up area of 41 thousand square meters. The project included the hospital main building comprising a ground floor with two upper floors, the staff accommodation building besides other utility buildings including a mosque, power generation station as well as other utility buildings. This was in addition to tennis courts, basketball and football fields, a helipad, external landscaping and car parking. The AED448 million hospital has all the requirements to support and achieve international standards in providing healthcare services.
Strengthening Cooperation with Healthcare Sectors and Institutions Musanada also helped to increase the capacity of Al Noor Center for Rehabilitation of Special Needs by delivering an AED20 million project to expand and improve the Center’s performance, as the Center kicked off with only 8 students, whereas it hosts today approximately 300 students with various physical and mental disabilities from all nationalities.
Musanada also completed Al Mushrif Healthcare Center, which was opened as part of the efforts to enhance the provision of high quality medical services and the provision of a distinguished healthcare services to the residents of Abu Dhabi. The value of construction of the Center extending on an overall area of 6,400 square meters was approximately AED54 million. Al Mushrif Center provides the necessary healthcare to children, pregnant women and all family members through its various external clinics including: family medicine, dentistry, emergency healthcare, preventive medicine and comprehensive laboratory tests, in addition to x-rays and radiology services, mammography, ECG, chronic disease treatment, minor operations, homecare, nutrition and health education clinic, as well as a pharmacy and family consulting services section.
AED455 Million Vital Roads and Pedestrian Bridges During 2015 In the road projects sector, implementing its strategy to promote traffic safety and raise road network efficiency in line with economic growth in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Musanada opened parts of Al Falah Interchange.
This approximately AED111 million project aimed to improve traffic flow for road users coming from Al Shawamekh to Abu Dhabi through an interchange without having to turn around Al Falah area. Additionally, the project improved the traffic flow from Abu Dhabi to Al Falah through an interchange without having to turn around Al Shamkha area. The project would enhance traffic flow in the surrounding roads in addition to providing a direct route for those coming from Suwaihan area to Al Shamkha without having to turn around Al Falah roundabout. This would provide a direct route for traffic movement from Al Falah towards Suwaihan without having to turn around Al Shamkha area. The importance of this project would be to keep with pace with the urban growth witnessed by the region and provide appropriate traffic solutions.
"DOT would spare no effort in providing best services in line with highest standards, taking into consideration traffic safety as a goal sought to be achieved along with the strategic partners," said Faisal Al-Suwaidi, the General Director -Main Road division at the Department of Transport (DOT). "This significant project complements DOT’s approach to create an integrated and sustainable road network in line with highest standards as part of its strategy to maintain the infrastructure of the main roads in line with economic growth and development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi."
"As it is keen to put into effect the directions of Abu Dhabi government in relation to economic development in the UAE and enhancement of the quality of the infrastructure by delivery of projects that supports the development process in the emirate, Musanada is committed to deliver the project on time and as planned, achieving leadership and excellence in performing the tasks assigned to it," reassured Omar Matar Assian Al Mansouri, Roads Acting Director at Musanada.
Pedestrian Bridges Musanada opened 8 pedestrian bridges in various locations of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for a total cost of AED75 million to provide pedestrian passages that ensure public safety. These bridges were expanded and equipped with electrical lifts and lighting to ensure they are used by different age groups in a secure way that facilitates movement on feet from one area to another.
Certain amendments were made to the design of the pedestrian bridges compared to the 2-meter wide previous bridges, as the width of new bridges is 3 meters from inside, and they are built using strong shake and weather proof materials, in order to provide users with maximum safety criteria. These bridges will help reduce run-overs, creating a pedestrian accident-free environment and avoiding practices that causes traffic obstructions and congestions.
Dualling of Madinat Zayed – Ghayathi Road This dualling project of Madinat Zayed – Ghayathi road aims to develop the infrastructure ,road and transportation network in the western region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This project keeps pace with the progress witnessed by Abu Dhabi across all social, economic and cultural aspects. The opening of this AED268 million project coincides with the delivery of recently completed several modern and advanced road projects as well as a number of projects to be opened in the future.
The project aims to improve traffic flow and safety along the 80km Madinat Zayed – Ghayathi road across three stages, the dualling of the road by an 80km new line parallel to the existing one, four undercrossing (tunnels) for U-turns and animal’s crossing and enhancing and increasing the efficiency of the 60km chain link fence along the two sides of the road.
