A ministerial working session, held on Thursday morning under the chairmanship of Interim Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi, was devoted to the following up the issue compensation for the damage caused by the recent floods in some regions of the country. The meeting was an opportunity to review the reports of the various regional commissions and the national committees created to this effect, to carry out a survey of the state of affairs and assess the damage. The total costs of the damage were estimated at about 65 million dinars (MTD), incurred in housing, household equipment, infrastructure, collective equipment and agriculture. On this occasion, decision was taken to appropriate the necessary funds and distribute in-kind assistance to the citizens and small farmers in the affected regions, and to repair the destroyed roads and rural tracks, as well as the bridges and water works. The efforts aimed to protect the cities and urban centres against flooding and prepare for likely natural disasters, were also examined during the meeting.
