The Cabinet reviewed on Thursday the government's successful efforts and plans to face torrential rains this year.
"No damage was caused by the torrential rains this year," the water resources and irrigation minister said in the Cabinet's weekly meeting.
The meeting was held under Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
The government provided 450 million pounds to establish a number of lakes and dams to control the torrential rains in North Sinai, the minister said.
He added that the tourist facilities, roads and houses have been spared of dangers in North Sinai as well as in the Upper Egyptian governorates.
In another topic, the minister noted that he discussed with officials of the UAE Red Crescent Association a UAE grant of 10 billion U.S. dollars to establish wills and water purification units for the underprivileged border areas.
For his part, Mahlab lauded the campaigns carried out by the Interior Minister to face the criminal hideouts in all governorates as well as put an end to the thefts of the electricity current.
