Twelve experts from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia started on Monday assessing four bids tendered by international consultancy offices.
One one of the offices will be picked to conduct required studies on the controversial dam of Ethiopia.
The step was announced by Egypt's Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazy who has arrived in Juba on a four-day visit.
The assessment of the four bids will be finished within 10 days, said Moghazy.
The winner will be declared in March.
Required studies on the Ethiopian dam will be conducted in a period of not more than 12 months.
