The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has delivered emergency relief assistance to more than 500 Syrian refugee families (more than 3000 refugees) in Danniyeh and Bekaa Safreen in northern Lebanon to help them survive a harsh winter as the Levant region is being hit by a fierce snowstorm called Huda (or Zeina).
Despite heavy snow and severe weather conditions, the humanitarian agency's aid team, for the third day in a row, has managed to transport food items, blankets, mattresses, warm clothing and heating stoves to the refugees with the help of Lebanese officials.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE Embassy in Beirut are carrying out the intensified humanitarian effort in Lebanon in accordance with directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide emergency assistance to refugees and people affected by the blizzard.
An official from the agency noted that both the residents of Danniyeh area and the refugees they host in their homes are in dire need of relief assistance.
The refugees welcomed the assistance and expressed their gratitude for the UAE for its generous gesture.
