A memorandum of understanding on the protection of the environment and natural resources, and sustainable development, signed by the governments of Kuwait and Albania on Wednesday, will open up new horizons for cooperation, a minister said.
The MoU is comprised of several environmental aspects, namely on the prevention of pollution, waste management, increasing awareness, fighting desertification and water resource and land management, said Kuwait's Minister of Oil, State Minister for National Assembly Affairs and head of the Supreme Environment Council Ali Al-Omair.
The deal was signed after talks at Bayan Palace by Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati.
Minister Al-Omair expressed confidence that the MoU would aid the increase of coordination and the exchange of viewpoints on the matter, particularly at international conventions and meetings in a means that serves mutual interest.
For its part, the state Environment Public Authority (EPA) welcomed the deal, saying it represents an important addition on the exchange of expertise.
