Kuwaiti Minister of Public Works and Minister of Electricity and Water Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim said here on Tuesday Arab countries should exert concerted efforts to address the ramifications of water scarcity.
"A single Arab strategy should be developed in order to tackle water scarcity and to carry out a holistic review of the water system in all Arab countries," the minister told KUNA on the sidelines of the Third Arab Water Forum held here today.
He also called on Arab countries to adapt to climate changes, to maximize utilization of floods and rains, to curtail relevant negative effects and to overhaul the integrated management of water resources.
The minister stressed the significance of launching public awareness of water conservation in the Arab world.
On the forum themed "Towards Secured Arab Water Future", the Kuwaiti minister considered it a real opportunity for the conferees to review diverse successful Arab and international experiments of the fight against water scarcity.
Kuwait will present its "pioneering" experiment in the field of addressing water scarcity during the forum, Al-Ibrahim pointed out.
