The current negotiations of Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam is going through an important stage which is related to discussing several technical issues and details concerning cooperation between the French and Dutch offices to hold studies on the effects of the dam on the Nile downstream countries, said the Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry.
The current stage of negotiations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia tackles several technical details, said adviser of the water resources minister Alaa Yassin.
These details are related to holding the required studies to determine the effect of establishing the Renaissance Dam on Egypt and Sudan and the hydro power generated from existing dams, he added.
In April, the three countries selected two consultancy firms that would cooperate in the implementation of the necessary studies to determine the environmental, social and economic impacts of the construction of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
