Riyadh Mayor Prince Abdul Aziz Al-Ayyaf opened the Riyadh Spring Festival organized by the Riyadh municipality at the Exhibition Ground in the Eastern Ring Road on Wednesday. The 10-day festival carrying the motto “Gardens and Flowers,” will present a number of amusement and awareness programs targeting different sections of the people. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the opening ceremony, the prince said a major goal of the festival is to provide an opportunity for families to spend their school vacations together enjoying various activities. Stressing the need for more locations to organize festivals, the prince said the municipality would organize festivals in other parts of the city such as King Abdullah Picnic Center in Malaz and Prince Salman Picnic Center next year. Attractions of the event include arrangement of flowers in the shape of a carpet with 300,000 flowers and various green surface formations and a 600-meter footpath. There will also be e-games programs in the festival aimed at children. Awareness programs of the festival include activities aimed at spreading a culture of loving and caring for trees.
