Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf lauded Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2015 which is organised under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) Consultative Council.
He said in press statements on the sidelines of the inauguration of the show that HM the King's patronage of the event reflects the leadership's keenness on sustainable agricultural development. He added the exhibition has become international as it provides an opportunity to showcase agricultural products from all over the world. He described the participants as ambassadors of their countries who have a responsibility to update the visitors on cutting-edge agri-technologies.
The minister congratulated HRH Princess Sabeeka on continuous success of the show and the honourable reputation it has gained locally and internationally thanks to her support and follow-up.
On his part, Agriculture and Marine Resources Undersecretary Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al Khalifa praised success of this year's edition, pointing out the latest agricultural products showcased in the various pavilions. He added that the theme of the exhibition, "Agricultural Training for Sustainable Harvest", mirrors the efforts made by the ministry and NIAD in this respect. He also lauded the role of NIAD in boosting the efforts of the public and private institutions, the non-government organisations and individuals in developing the agricultural sector in Bahrain.
