President Abdel Fattah El Sisi leads Egypt in confronting water challenges, Irrigation Minister Hossam Moghazi said Sunday.
Sisi leads a daily campaign to protect and save Nile River in Egypt and Egyptian water interests abroad, he said in a speech on the World Water Day event attended by Minister of Agriculture Salaheddin Hilal and representatives of the ministries, Al Azhar and the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The ministry is digging 1400 water wells at 2.5 billion pounds costs out of 4500 wells and 0.5 billion pounds will be used in countering impact of torrential rains in South Sinai, the minister pointed out.
A number of barrages are under repair and modernization projects, he said.
