Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Ati started Tuesday a three-day visit to Uganda in the framework of Egypt's efforts to implement a $4.5 million worth project that aims to eliminate the danger of floods in Kasese district, western Uganda.
Abdel Ati is expected to meet with his Ugandan counterpart to discuss bilateral and regional issues of common interest for both nations.
He is also expected to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation between both countries, especially in irrigation and water resources fields.
The first phase of the project is funded by the Egyptian irrigation ministry in accordance with a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries in April 2016.
The project is currently being implemented by the Arab Contractors Company and is expected to be completed by November 2017.
