A foreign cruise ship that ran aground in the southern Philippines was threatening to ram houses along the coastline Saturday, the Coast Guard said.
The ship was being pushed by waves nearer to shore and residents living along the coast feared the ship could damage their homes, dpa reported.
The M/V Victory Pacific cruise originated in Mexico City and was bound for India. It ran aground in the Sarangani Bay near General Santos City.
The vessel was a few hundred meters away from the shore in Dadiangas West Village in General Santos City when it ran aground earlier in the week.
The captain had been trying to reach Singapore but was forced to enter Sarangani Bay as the ship was running out of fuel.
