The National Marine Forecasting Station on Thursday reported large chunks of sea ice floating near Liaodong Bay in the Bohai Sea for the first time this winter, warning local fishery industries and port businesses to be wary of the ice. The total area of the ice spans 10 nautical miles, the station said, adding that sea ice has also been spotted in the northern Yellow Sea. The station said the size of the sea ice in both areas may expand over the next week, which may disrupt fishery, aquaculture and shipping operations.
