Sydney - Arabstoday

In Monday's late-breaking news we learned that Apple has a fondness for ski resorts, while rumours suggested the company intends to launch a whopping 55-inch flatscreen TV in 2012. Plus, the huge Xbox update lands today. It turns out that it's not just Android and Windows Phones that give their software updates fun names, Apple is also in on the act, except the company doesn't go public. Among the internal names for iOS updates are Alpine, Big Bear, Apex and Telluride. All of which are ski resorts in the states. Well it's certainly more fun than iOS 4.3.3 eh?Microsoft will begin to roll-out the latest Xbox overhaul today (Tuesday) with a new update that brings Kinect voice control to the console as well as a host of multimedia platforms on Xbox LIVE. The update will bring LOVEFiLM to the console, while later this month we'll finally see the BBC iPlayer on Xbox as well as Channel 4 and Five's on-demand offerings. The heavily-rumoured Apple flatscreen TV will come in three different sizes with the entry level at 32-inch and the largest will be 55-inches, according to a report Australia's SmartHouse website. Citing sources in Japan, the article reiterates claims that the sets will boast a UI based around Siri and a new processor that's set to debut in the next generation iPad in 2012.A little known Chinese electronics company has launched the first ever Android tablet to run the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and it'll cost just $100 (about $60). The Ainovo Novo7 tablet boasts a 7-inch display, 4GB of storage, 3G compatibility, fronts and rear cameras and stand-by battery time of 30 hours. It's even been endorsed by the Android kingpin Andy Rubin. The UK's premier movie streaming platform, LOVEFiLM has revealed it will abandon the under-fire Adobe Flash platform and begin using the Microsoft Silverlight platform which powers the likes of SkyGo. The news will be another blow to Adobe's web video platform following its decision to abandon providing Flash support on mobile devices.
