Light rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning hit most areas of UAE early on Monday.
Minor accidents and traffic bottlenecks were reported in many areas in the country, including National Paints roundabout in Sharjah, Al Ittihad Road towards Dubai, many areas in Sharjah and roads leading towards Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
People heading to work early on Monday were wrapped in thick clothes to protect themselves from the gushing wind. Motorists have been cautioned due to slippery roads and reduced visibility.
The rain is expected to continue for the next two days, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) based in Abu Dhabi. Rainclouds are expected on Tuesday morning in the far north and eastern parts of the country.
NCMS has warned the public against heading out to sea as it will be rough for at least three days. The bureau also cautioned motorists to drive carefully as visibility will deteriorate over the next few days due to dust particles suspended in the air because of the windy conditions.
