German tuning specialist releases all-electric Mercedes-Benz. Zero-emissions motoring and battery propulsion are so much the rage right now, that even high-dollar, high-power German performance tuners are jumping on the bandwagon. Who would’ve thought that Brabus - the same company that gave us the world’s fastest SUV, fastest four-door saloon and fastest four-seater cabrio – would now be doing an electric Mercedes E-Class, for example? Yet that’s exactly what’s happened here as Brabus gets all trendy, releasing an all-wheel drive E-Class banking on a total of 320kW and a scarcely believable 3,200Nm of torque thanks to four electric motors. This project is the newborn of a special Brabus Zero Emission division which created the electric saloon for a world debut at the Frankfurt motor show. While the 0-100kph doesn’t sound, err, electric, with a time of 6.9 seconds, the point is doing it without emitting any dirty CO2. Brabus also claims a driving range of 350km, and an integral charger that speed up the re-juicing for a five-hour full top-up. Naturally it wouldn’t be a Brabus without some bling rims, but here the 19in wheels have also been designed to each house a small electric motor, and look good doing it.
