GM Korea, the South Korean unit of U.S. automaker General Motors, planned to recall 32,618 cars in the country for a defective fuel hose in five diesel models, the transportation ministry said Thursday. Voluntary recall would be made by GM Korea for 32,618 vehicles with a faulty fuel hose that could cause fuel leaks and, in turn, make those cars come to a sudden halt, the Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs said in a statement. The cars subject to recall include 23,795 units of Winstorm 2.0 diesel and 3,141 units of Winstorm Max 2.0 diesel that were manufactured between Feb. 11, 2008 and Jan. 2, 2011. Those models are now being sold as Chevrolet Captiva after GM Korea named all its vehicles with Chevrolet brands earlier this year. Others include 99 units of Tosca 2.0 diesel, currently sold as Chevrolet Epica, that were produced between Feb. 1, 2008 and June 20, 2011 and 104 units of Lacetti 2.0 diesel that were manufactured between March 13, 2008 and June 18, 2011 along with 5, 479 units of Lacetti Premier 2.0 diesel, now called as Chevrolet Cruze, that were made between Nov. 4, 2008 and July 20, 2010. Owners of the defective vehicles can contact the service center of GM Korea for free repairs starting Friday, while those who had their cars repaired in advance can be reimbursed for their costs, the ministry said.
