Following the official launch of Tesla in the UAE last week, Mall of the Emirates in Dubai has installed nine Tesla Destination Charging connectors to keep the first adopters of the electric vehicles fully powered up.
Located at the Fashion Dome Valet Parking and on the first and second floors at Mall of the Emirates, the Tesla charging stations offer ease and convenience to Tesla drivers visiting the mall and can add up to 100 km of range to the battery per hour of charge.
“Majid Al Futtaim is proud to offer the first generation of Tesla drivers Dubai’s largest cluster of charging stations at its central and conveniently located flagship mall: Mall of the Emirates,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, managing director east region – property management, shopping malls for Majid Al Futtaim.
“Innovation and sustainability are part of the core values of the retail pioneer and we are excited to offer our visitors another new and bold experience, in line with our vision to create great moments, for everyone, everyday,” Sharaf said.
As part of Majid Al Futtaim’s Green Building and Energy Management policies, the retail pioneer is committed to implementing sustainable improvements within the planning stages of all design infrastructures. In partnership with organisations such as Dubai Carbon and Global Alliance for Building and Construction, the strategy for the expansion of Mall of the Emirates was aligned with innovative global trends in sustainable advances, ensuring that future sustainable and innovative solutions; including the Tesla car movement, are conveniently executed at shopping malls, a statement said.
At Mall of the Emirates, designated parking spaces were previously allocated in anticipation of the chargers during the expansion initiative – Evolution, in 2015, it added.
